I hope you are enjoying the excitement that the beginning of the school year brings.  This fall Sparkling City Light Opera, Corpus Christi’s premiere professional light opera company, will perform The Magic Flute. We invite you to join us for an educational initiative that can directly affect your students.  Not only are your students invited to attend the performance at the beautiful TAMUCC Performing Arts Center, but your teachers are given the opportunity to reserve a sneak preview assembly introducing the opera, characters, history, and more with a featured professional artist from the company in your very own school!

Sparkling City Light Opera firmly believes that the arts, specifically opera, enrich the lives of those who are given the opportunity to experience, live, and enjoy them.  It is our goal to make opera accessible to all audiences with a special interest in children and education.  Through Light Opera in the Classroom, we will introduce children to the world of opera through an array of engaging, age-appropriate works.  With curricular connections to history, literature, music, theater, dance, visual arts, and foreign language, opera provides a unique and lively way to engage and educate students and teachers both inside and outside the classroom. 

I have attached a flyer with information regarding the performance and classroom previews.  Please review them and forward them on to your teachers.  There will be a free on-line study guide with activities incorporating all aspects of the curriculum, history, science, writing, and more that your teachers can use and modify for their students.
